Happy New Year!!!
Many reading this are probably already sick to death of that phrase as it was SO two weeks ago. whatever.

The last couple of weeks have been great because I have been able to hangout with some friends that I haven’t spoken to in a long time. These reunions are great because it seems we just fall into a comfort zone – like no time has passed. Well that’s until something is mentioned and the convo stops. “Were you there for that?” The answer is bittersweet because you hear the story, but it comes crashing back that you haven’t seen that person in ages.

In the next couple of weeks is the anniversary of my #1, my first best friend’s death. One of my biggest’s regrets is that there were a good 5 years worth of time where we didn’t talk. Not to say that either of us did somethig wrong, but we just didn’t call each other. I would complain about how it was only me calling him and eventually I stopped.

I did see him prior to his passing, but those 5 years could have had even more memories of hanging out and chilling.

We can’t control the past. What we have done, what has been done. But, lets try our best to shape the future with the present.

Not that much from me in terms of updates, sorry.

I have finally gotten a Blu-ray player (in the guise of a PS3) and have all but completed my HD-DVD collection. Won’t be buying anymore unless its rare or really cheap. So I am sitting on a total of 140 titles (couple more due to box sets).

As for Blu-ray I am already racking up the titles: Kickass, Scott Pilgrim, Superbad, Nick and Norah’s infinite playlist, Juno, Watchmen Director’s Cut, District 9, Showgirls, Dogma, Copout, Damages Season 1, Sound of Music Box Set and Batman Anthology.  So I’m on a good pace.

I haven’t had a chance to really get into the extras of each disc with the exception of Scott Pilgrim (Which I will talk in detail in another entry). The PS3 came at the right time because my Halo360 died 2 days prior with an E74 error. I’ll post the video of its last gasps.

I was determined to get a good start to my day off work so I got up early and headed off downtown. Unfortunately some difficulty came my way; I misread the GO Transit schedule and instead of going down to Union Station and ended up on the York Mills bus. I ended getting in line at 9am with about 30 so odd folks in front of us.

The reason I was downtown was for a special signing to commemorate the upcoming release of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World on DVD and BluRay. The director, Edgar Wright; actress, Ellen Wong; and author of the books, Brian Lee O’Malley were on hand for an autograph session. In addition to this Universal Pictures, The Beguiling, Bloor Cinema and HMV Canada put together a FREE FAN SCREENING of the movie that same night. The screening is a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED situation, but the first 75 folks in line for the HMV signing would get double passes to the screening that night.

Now I was gunning to get downtown as early as possible, and mixing up the buses didn’t help the situation. Looking back I cannot complain due to the fine folks I shared the line with. So Ms_The_Monarch, Johnny, Alex and Tam; Cheers for the goodtime and company!

So I got the autographs, but was left with  lot of free time and a bunch of us went on a most excellent adventure filled with shopping mall food courts and tattoo parlors . None of the details I will mention here. Got into the theatre and met-up with some friends: Kevin, Gil and enjoyed the night as I saw the movie again, still awesome; the making of the flick, extremely informative and Q&A session which gives me hope that there will be an official release of the unreleased Sex Bob-Omb songs and Brie Larson’s version of Black Sheep.

I ended the night with an awesome ‘Plumbtree’ shirt, good memories and a missing bankcard. Two out of three isn’t bad.

Yes, I indeed know of my suckage in terms of updating this blog. But to be fair, there is no point in blaming myself because it seems counterproductive to make myself feel bad.

As I do majority of my blogging via my phone…  and my phone has been giving me problems/was broken. I blame Sony Ericsson and its stupid tech staff.
Hate them followers…  hate them.

Today is the release of Scott Pilgrim Verses The World, the film adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s epic graphic novel series.

The film follows Torontonian, Scott Pilgrim, falling for the mysterious Romona Flowers. Everything is great but there is a catch to their relationship; to continue dating Scott must fight and defeat her seven evil exes.

Scott is played by Brampton born, Michael Cera (Juno, Superb, Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist). To celebrate the Michael, the movie and books; Stadium Comics declared the movie’s release date as MICHAEL CERA DAY.

I am really writing this recap with a lot of weeks behind me, so it won’t be detailed. We won a game and lost the following two. Our team was really fired up when playing our first game of the tournament against the equally LA MINGS. It’s been a while since I have felt so many butterflies in by belly. I’d like to say I had a great +/- rating, bell I couldn’t tell you the score. But I felt I had a good defensive first game and we won – so that’s all that mattered.

During the process of this first game, my hockey stick was stepped on and broken. Luckily it was near enough to the end of the game to not make much of a difference.

I’ll save the next games for the next entry.

So the buds and I have gathered up our things and have head out to Brantford as we will be participating in the Walter Gretzsky Street Hockey Tournament.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by our teammates and fellow ViewAskew Hockey League members at our predetermined hotel for the tournament. The hotel is a lot better than he reviews indicated and the service has been stellar. The first night featured some debauchery with drinks (not by me) and karaoke (by me and others). I ‘performed’ Wild Wild West by Will Smith, Kyle’s Mom Is A Hitch by Eric Cartman, Party All The Time by Eddie Murphy, Rock With You by Michael Jackson, Power Of Love by Huewy Lewis And The News and lastly You Get What You Give by New Radicals.

This morning we had a excellent breakfast provided by the hotel and went off to hockey practice. I handled the ball a lot better, but my shooting still has no power behind it. Chris got hit with a snapshot to the head, but he is a trooper and shook it off. I believe in my team and I think we will surprise some folks come tomorrow.

Tonight we will he watch the V. A. G. (View Askew Girls) vs Kevin Smith and Co.’s Puck U.
